J Series Readers

The one reader that does it all !

In 1990, IBC introduced the industry's first decoded barcode swipe reader.  Now 12 years strong, the J series reader has become the most versatile reader in the industry, reading barcode, magstripe, and proximity cards, with interfaces to just about anything.

 

   

The J series readers are the industry's most flexible readers, combining aggressive reading of barcodes, magnetic stripes, and proximity cards, with a number of different interfaces and options.

J readers are available for connecting directly to access control controllers, using either wiegand or aba (clock & data) interfaces. Serial interfaces (RS232, TTL) are available for connecting directly to pc's, plc's, or other serial devices. A PC wedge interface is available for connecting between your keyboard and a PC. A VT320 interface is available for connecting to DEC keyboards. A RS422 interface is available for networking readers. A DTMF interface is available for connecting directly to telephone lines, and a TCP/IP interface is available for connecting directly to an ethernet or the internet.

Several options are available with the J series readers. An internal relay is available, which can be controlled internally, or externally when using a RS232, RS422, TTL, or TCP/IP interface. Led's are also available to signal the user for specific events. Sense inputs are available for door monitoring. An 8-character alphanumeric display is available for user prompting and signaling, and an external keypad interface is available for connecting to external keypads.

A powerful character selection and masking feature is also contained in the J series readers, allowing you to extract only the information that you need from a barcode, magstripe, or prox card. Additionally, J series readers that read proximity cards can reorder the proximity data and present it in a different interface than originally formatted on the card. For example, 34 bit cards can be read and then output as a 26 bit card.

Smart Slot J (barcode)

IBC's premiere product. The Smart Slot J reads most major barcode symbologies, and is available with over 20 different interfaces, including RS232, RS422/485, PC Wedge, Wiegand, ABA (mag emulation), TCP/IP, and DTMF. Applications include Access control, Time and Attendance, Retail, Taxi.

Smart Mag J (magstripe)

Magnetic Stripe swipe reader for reading any card with magnetic stripe information, such as credit cards, driver's licenses, and access control cards. Available with over 20 different popular interfaces, including RS232, RS422/485, TCP/IP, PC Wedge, Wiegand, and Wand Emulation. Applications include Access control, Time and Attendance, retail, taxi.

Magbar J (barcode and magstripe combination)

The first and only combination barcode/magnetic stripe reader available. The MagbarJ swipe reader reads all popular barcode symbologies as well as magnetic stripe cards in the same slot!. Available with over 20 popular interfaces, including RS232, RS422/485, TCP/IP, PC Wedge, Wiegand, ABA, and Wand Emulation. Applications include Access control, Time and Attendance, retail, taxi.

Smart Prox J (proximity, barcode and magstripe combination)

A combination reader which can read proximity cards from Pyramid or Hid, as well as barcodes and/or magnetic stripes. The Smart Prox J swipe reader reads all popular barcode symbologies as well as magnetic stripe cards and proximity cards in the same unit. Available with over 20 popular interfaces, including RS232, RS422/485, TCP/IP, PC Wedge, Wiegand, ABA, and Wand Emulation. Applications include Access control, Time and Attendance, and parking. This reader is especially useful where proximity cards are used for employee access, but temporary cards need to be issued on a daily basis, i.e. hospital parking facilities.
